FAQs

Can I have online or in-person therapy?

At present, I only offer online video calling or telephone therapy sessions via the secure platform Zoom - it’s a very effective way to engage in the therapeutic process as we go at your own pace and in the comfort of your own private and quiet space.

What can I expect during therapy?

The first step is discovering and understanding yourself - what your needs are and your goals in therapy. When you start working with a therapist, you may feel nervous about meeting someone new. Part of my role is to create a safe, non-judgmental space for you to feel like you can openly express yourself. Online sessions are a convenient way of undergoing therapy, where you can find a quiet, comfortable space to be fully at ease.

What is integrative counselling?

Using an integrative approach means I incorporate knowledge, training, and experience of different therapies, such as Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamics, CBT or Gestalt and combine them with my Person-Centred core, to enable me to tailor my approach to better suit your unique needs.

How much does a session cost?

Online therapy costs £50.00 per session and lasts 50 minutes. The fee is payable 24 hours before your session, and you can pay online or via BACS bank transfer.

How many sessions do I need?

Everyone is unique, and I tailor your therapy specifically to your needs. So, how many sessions you require depends on what issues you are experiencing. I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy and we review our work together regularly.

How do I book an appointment?

To make an appointment email or use the contact form above. I know how important it is to feel comfortable with the therapist you chose. I will contact you within the next day to arrange a FREE 20-minute consultation.

What happens during my first assessment session?

In line with the BACP ethical framework that I follow, firstly we discuss a therapeutic contract between you and me. This is an opportunity for me to explain everything you can expect from us working together, including my confidentiality, and what I can offer you. We also agree on some mutual boundaries, and you can ask about anything else that might be concerning you. We then use the rest of the session to have a more in-depth talk about you, your current issues and what you want from our sessions.

When do I pay for my sessions?

Full payment of sessions is usually made 24 hours in advance of your session via online payment or a BACS transfer.

What happens if I cannot attend a pre-booked session?

Please let me know 24 hours in advance if you cannot make your session and need to cancel or change it.

Are our sessions confidential?

As a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) member, I work within their ethical framework. Confidentiality is the basis for a successful therapeutic relationship. Everything you discuss during our sessions is confidential. However, there are a few exceptions where I may be obligated to break this confidentiality, but this is rare, and I will discuss this with you in more depth at the beginning of our first session.
